Lithuania's main centre-right party has captured the most votes in the first round of a general election.
With counting complete in most districts, the Homeland Union party of former prime minister Andrius Kubilius is ahead with 18.5 percent of the vote. An alliance of two populist parties however has carried around 27 percent. Current prime minister Gediminas Kirkilas' Social Democrats have fallen into fourth place on 13 percent. The main issues in the vote were rising inflation and relations with neighbouring Russia. Final results are due in a little less than two weeks when the second round of voting takes place.
