The purchase was financed for Gross by the Slovak branch of the Czech financial and consulting firm Key Investments. Gross's debt was reportedly covered by entrepreneur Richard Kucik, co-founder of Moravia Energo, who transferred 13.5 million crowns to Key Investment. Afterwards Gross sold the 31 percent stake to the Arca Capital Bohemia company, belonging to Slovak financier Pavol Krupa, reportedly for 80 million crowns. Three years ago, Gross was forced to resign as prime minister because he was unable to credibly explain the origin of 1.2 million crowns he had used to buy a flat.
