India has responded with 450 million dollars in additional funding for development projects in Afghanistan.

Indian premier Manmohan Singh said the sum would be on top of 750 million dollars already allocated by India for Afghan projects such as roads and hospitals. He said India and Afghanistan would fight terrorism as friends. Singh made the announcement during a visit to New Delhi by Afghan President Ahmed Karzai whose administration is facing resurgence by Taliban militants. Kabul has repeatedly accused Pakistan of clandestinely supporting the Taliban. Last weekend at a south Asian regional conference in Sri Lanka, Indian officials said Pakistan's premier Yousuf Raza Gilani had agreed to "look into" the bombing which killed 58 people in July, including two Indian diplomats. Analysts say Pakistan is worried about India's rising influence in Afghanistan.
