At least 16 police were killed when a border checkpost in north-western China was attacked.
The state-run news agency Xinhua said two grenades were thrown at the border police station in Kashgar in the Xinjiang region. The attackers forced their way into the police compound with two vehicles and threw the grenades, Xinhua said. No further information was immediately available.
