Ahead of a major international conference on AIDS thousands of activists have marched through Mexico City to protest discrimination often experienced by victims of the HIV virus.

Bill Clinton. World-wide, 33 million people have the immunodeficiency disease. In sub-Saharan Africa AIDS is to commonest cause of death, with millions lacking access to adequate medical care. Globally, two million people died of AIDS each year while those newly infected amount to two and half million. In the United States, authorities say 56,000 people become infected each year, 40 percent more than previous estimates.
