Global Media Forum in Bonn wraps up second day ... Rostock has brought to light more than 1,800 possible tax evasion cases linked to accounts held at a bank in Liechtenstein, a tiny principality in Western Europe.
The four defendants are accused of trying to extort 13 million euros from the LLB bank in Liechtenstein by threatening to reveal customer data stolen from the bank by an employee. The lawyer of one defendant has now submitted some of that information to the court. Some 700 Germans, including the former CEO of Deutsche Post, Klaus Zumwinkel, are already being investigated in connection with a tax evasion scandal involving secret accounts in Liechtenstein.
