German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier has said Iran must stop "trifling" over western proposals on its controversial nuclear programme.

Plans for a national security body for Germany ... Britain, France, Germany, China, Russia and the US -- have offered comprehensive cooperation. Steinmeier has told the magazine that he hopes for ''a clear signal'' in favour of a deal which would involve Iran suspending its nuclear activities in return for a suspension of sanctions against it. The German minister warns that if there isn't a prompt response, more pressure would have to be brought on Tehran. Meanwhile, EU diplomats in Brussels said they were still awaiting Tehran's official response to an offer of new talks to resolve the dispute.
