NATO says bomb blasts have killed five of its soldiers in Afghanistan.
The NATO-led International Security Assistance Force said the troops were killed near the border with Pakistan. The new deaths bring to 149 the number of NATO soldiers to die in Afghanistan this year. Over the past three months, more foreign troops have died in Afghanistan than in Iraq. Aid organisations say civilian deaths have risen sharply, with 260 people killed in violence, including Taliban attacks and NATO air raids, in July alone.
