A three-storey school dormitory has collapsed in central Turkey, killing at least 16 female students.
A further 27 were injured. Rescue workers are trying to reach people believed to be trapped alive in the rubble. The mayor of the village of Balcilar said a gas canister explosion was the likely cause of the disaster. Around 50 girls aged between eight and 16 were attending summer Koran courses when the building collapsed.
