The US has formally submitted a draft resolution to the UN Security Council calling for tough sanctions against Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe and members of his government.
The proposed sanctions, which include a travel ban and a freeze on assets, come after last week's widely condemned presidential run-off vote.
