Czech KDU-CSL head says dispute over U.S. report solved ... Red Crescent Societies says that the number of people affected by AIDS/HIV meets the UN definition of a disaster. According to the report the number of people affected by natural disasters rose sharply last year to 201 million. For the first time however HIV/AIDS was placed at the centre of the report. The immune disease has claimed 25 million lives since 1981 and over 2 million deaths in 2007 alone.
