Islamic Jihad militants have claimed responsibility for firing at least two rockets from the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip into southern Israel.
The rockets were the first to be fired from the Palestinian territory since a truce between Israel and Hamas went into effect last Thursday. The attack happened after Israeli troops killed two Palestinians, including an Islamic Jihad commander, in the West Bank city of Nablus, which is not included in the ceasefire. Israel rejects Hama ceasefire proposal ... it seized by force a year ago. In exchange, Israel agreed to halt attacks on the Gaza Strip and ease its economic blockade of the enclave.
