Germany to Burn 160,000 Tons of Italian Trash ... European football championship: The Netherlands and Italy have qualified for the quarter-finals.
The Netherlands beat Romania 2-0 with goals by Jan Klaas Huntelaar and Robin van Persie. In Tuesday's second match Italy knocked France out of the tournament with a 2-0 win taking second place behind the Netherlands in Group C. Andrea Pirlo converted a penalty after French defender Eric Abidal was penalised for a foul and sent off. The second Italian goal was scored by Daniele De Rossi. France was handicapped early in the game by the loss of star midfielder Franck Ribery who was taken to hospital with a suspected broken leg. Italy will now face Spain in the quarter-finals, while the Netherlands will take on either Russia or Sweden.
