Stuart Clark took three wickets to leave the West Indies struggling 316 runs adrift of Australia's first innings total in Kingston.

Clark produced a devastating spell of 3-18 to leave the West Indies on 68-3, before they rallied to 115-3 at close.

Australia, resuming on 301-4, moved to 431 all out, thanks to a belligerent knock from Andrew Symonds (70not out).

The West Indies will resume with Runako Morton and Shivnarine Chanderpaul vying to add to their 48-run partnership.

But for Symonds' late rally which included eight fours and two sixes, the West Indies would have been chasing a more manageable first innings target.

Indeed, they were left frustrated by a 32-run last wicket partnership which saw Stuart McGill contribute just two.

In reply, they saw Clark dismiss Brenton Parchment and Ramnaresh Sarwan via Brad Haddin catches behind the wicket, while Devon Smith (32) was bowled.

However, Morton (23 not out) and Chanderpaul (25 not out) survived until the close.
