Venezuela's foreign ministry has formally protested what it calls an "illegal incursion" by Colombia.
Foreign Minister Nicolas Maduro said 60 members of the Colombian army were intercepted in Venezuela's western Apure state on Friday, meters from the Venezuelan-Colombian border. In a statement Maduro expressed concern in a statement Saturday that the incident occurred shortly after Venezuela accused Colombia of deliberately destabilizing the region. Venezuela was responding to the release of Interpol-analyzed documents on Thursday that Colombia says expose ties between Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez and Colombia's FARC guerrillas.
